Raja Singh Accuses BJP Leaders of Involvement in His PD Act Arrest

Goshamahal BJP MLA T. Raja Singh has recently made serious allegations against certain members of his own party, accusing them of facilitating his arrest under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act during the previous administration. In a statement released on March 25, Singh claimed that a senior police officer informed him about the involvement of BJP leaders in his detention, which he found deeply troubling.

Singh expressed disappointment over the lack of support from his party during his incarceration, noting that while his elder brother stood by him, other party leaders were conspicuously absent.

Additionally, Singh criticized the former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for allegedly filing false cases against BJP workers and incarcerating them. He cautioned BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) against targeting police officers, referencing KTR’s recent remarks about taking action against retired police officials upon returning to power. Singh emphasized that while it’s natural for police officers to follow the directives of the ruling government, pursuing them after retirement is inappropriate.

He also drew parallels between past political incidents, mentioning how KTR had allegedly ordered the arrest of current Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy when he was an MP, and noted that Reddy now appears to be pursuing those who arrested him during that time.

Singh concluded by urging KTR to avoid unnecessary conflicts with police officers and to focus on governance, while criticizing the alleged misuse of power by previous governments.

It’s worth noting that Singh was previously arrested under the PD Act in August 2022 for allegedly making remarks against Prophet Mohammed, which led to his suspension from the BJP. He was released on bail the same evening but was arrested again on August 25, 2022. In October 2023, the BJP revoked his suspension ahead of the assembly elections in Telangana.
